And people are continuing to gravitate toward these tools: 10% more when AR is present.1 (This fall’s most popular try-on shades? The world of beauty shopping just got a virtual makeover! To empower both shoppers and brands, we’re launching AR beauty features in mobile browsers. This means you can try on hair color and foundation shades directly, while brands can reach you with interactive AR ads. Augmented Reality Shopping

New ways to try on hair color and foundation

We’re expanding our AR beauty tools beyond lips, eyes, and foundation! Now you can virtually try on hair color at home. See how various shades from L’Oréal brands look on you, or find a relatable model to test them on. Stay tuned, because Splat and Revlon colors will be joining the fun soon!

Beauty shoppers also have a new way to try on foundation. While you can still choose to see what a foundation shade looks like on a diverse set of 148 models, you’ll also have the option to virtually try it on yourself. Just search for a foundation type or name, select a product you’re interested in and tap “try on.”

Thanks to advancements in our AR technology, you can now use these features in more places, too. In addition to the Google app, you can access our AR hair and foundation tools from any mobile browser in the U.S. AR lip and eye makeup will also be available on the mobile web in the coming weeks.

Stronger reach and creativity with AR Beauty for brands

When AR beauty helps shoppers, it benefits the whole beauty industry. By trying AR beauty on Google, shoppers delve deeper into brands’ websites, potentially leading to actions like researching new products or making purchases.

In the past year, we’ve made it easier to find AR try-on in Search, allowing brands to better connect with consumers seeking their products. (Search “pink lipstick” to try it yourself!)

Today, over 50 beauty brands, from big names to startups, offer AR shopping on Google. In just the last six months, Covergirl, Dior Beauty, Fenty Beauty, Laura Mercier, and Makeup by Mario joined, letting customers virtually try on their collections. We’ve also expanded to accept AR assets from various providers like PulpoAR and Perfect Corp.

And now, with AR beauty ads, brands have a new way to promote their lip and eye products (with foundation coming soon). Shopping ads are now eligible to feature a new, inclusive try-on experience in place of the ad’s product image. Paired with relevant product information, AR beauty ads help our beauty brand partners showcase their products in a more interactive way to capture demand.
